Artworks Gallery Announces Juried Photo Show 

The Seneca County Arts Council’s Artworks Gallery juried photo show will open November 6.  Entries are due Thursday, October 29 through Friday, October 30, during gallery hours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The show will run from Friday, November 6 through Thursday, December 3. The show opens with a public awards reception on Friday, November 6, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with food and refreshments provided. The Artworks Gallery is located at 109 Fall Street in downtown Seneca Falls.

Entry fees are $10 for students, $25 for members and $35 for non-members. Entries must be ready to hang: matted and framed with wire. All entries are to have artist’s name, phone number, title on back and price. Size limits, 12X18.  Entries must be original work. The Gallery will receive a 25% commission on all work that is sold.

Prizes to be awarded:
Best in Show Overall $100 (One winner regardless of group level)
Student: Juror’s Choice $100, One Honorable Mention $50
Novice: Juror’s Choice $100, Honorable Mention $50
Advanced: Juror’s Choice $100, Honorable Mention $50
People’s Choice vote during the show. The winner of People’s Choice will receive a membership for 2027 which will be awarded at the end of the show in December.

Juror for the show is Elissa Davidson. Elissa, is a professional photographer for over 20 years. she specializes in Lifestyle Photography.  She says, “I love to capture every moment, from family portraits, engagements, maternity portraits, bar/bat mitzvahs, sweet sixteens, and especially weddings!”   Elissa is the co-owner of It’s A Wonderful Scoop, the ice cream store in downtown Seneca Falls, with her partner David Goldberg. Winners of the photo show will be invited to display their work in their store.

Seneca County Arts Council (SCAC) supports the arts in the local area through its art workshops, art shows, gallery space and a scholarship program. Artworks Gallery shows the work of member artists, photographers, handcrafted jewelry, pottery, blown glassware, knitted and assorted crafts. Interested in becoming a member? The gallery regular hours are Wednesday through Friday11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The gallery is staffed by volunteers. If you are making a special trip to visit us, you can call 315-257-0201 to make sure we are staffed. We will be staffed for photography take-in dates.
